  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup assorted candies (optional)
  • For Ganache: 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Prepare a 10-inch round cake pan with nonstick spray and parchment paper.
  2. Melt chopped chocolate and butter in a bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Mix in granulated and brown sugars.
  3. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until just combined. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt gently; add candies if desired.
  4. Pour batter into the pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  5. For ganache, heat chocolate chips and cream in the microwave until melted, stirring until silky. Chill until thickened.
