Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water (110-115˚F)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon – 1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by pouring warm water into a stand mixer bowl, sprinkle in yeast and sugar, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Combine melted butter, salt, and half of the flour into the yeast mixture. Mix on low speed while gradually adding the remaining flour until smooth.
  3. Knead the dough using a dough hook or by hand until elastic (about 7-10 minutes).
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover loosely with plastic wrap or a tea towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into logs; divide into 16-18 pieces and roll them to form thin sticks.
  6. Arrange on a greased baking sheet with space between each stick; cover again and allow them to rise for another hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly spray the tops of the breadsticks before baking for about 14-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Brush immediately with a mixture of melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning after removing from the oven.
