Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced (about 150g)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 4 large russet potatoes (about 1.5 kg), peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef (1 pound). Drain excess fat if necessary. Add the diced onion (1 medium) and sauté until translucent.
  2. Stir in the flour (2 tablespoons) until combined. Gradually add the beef broth (2 cups), stirring until the gravy thickens. Mix in Worcestershire sauce (1 tablespoon), and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a pot of boiling water, cook the cubed potatoes (4 large) until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain, then mash with milk (1/2 cup), butter (4 tablespoons), and salt until smooth.
  4. Serve generous portions of mashed potatoes topped with ground beef gravy.
