  • 4 cloves garlic (finely minced)
  • ½ cup less sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 pound flank steak (or your favorite cut of beef, thinly sliced)
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch
  • 2 green onions (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin pieces and toss with cornstarch; set aside.
  2. Heat 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add ginger and garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, water, and brown sugar; bring to a boil and simmer until slightly thickened.
  4. In another pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat and brown the beef in small batches for about 2 minutes.
  5. Return beef to the skillet with the sauce; heat through.
  6. Stir in sliced green onions and serve over rice.
