  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
  • ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • ¾ teaspoon salt (more to taste)
  • ½ pound lean ground beef
  • ½ pound chicken sausage
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 36 ounces pasta sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 large egg (beaten)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the lasagna noodles until al dente. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and chicken sausage over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. Mix in pasta sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, combine mozzarella cheese (1½ cups), Parmesan cheese (¼ cup), ricotta cheese, parsley, beaten egg, and salt.
  5. In a casserole dish, layer: spread meat sauce on the bottom, add three noodles, one-third of the ricotta mixture, one cup of meat sauce; repeat twice more.
  6. Top with remaining noodles and sauce. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove foil; sprinkle remaining cheeses on top and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly.
