  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 1 jar (15 ounces) tomato sauce
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 ounces shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions in a large pot of boiling salted water; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil and brown the ground beef for about 3-5 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onions and sauté until translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, and mustard powder; cook until fragrant.
  4. Whisk in flour for about one minute until lightly browned.
  5. Gradually add beef stock and tomato sauce; bring to boil then reduce heat to simmer for about 6-8 minutes until thickened.
  6. Stir in cooked pasta shells, browned beef, and heavy cream; season with salt and pepper, heating through.
  7. Mix in shredded cheddar cheese until melted and serve warm.
