  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup finely diced sweet yellow onions
  • 1¼ cups Thousand Island dressing (divided)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup pickle relish
  • ¼ cup yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • 2 cups freshly shredded mild cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 4 ounces Velveeta (cubed)
  • 1¼ cups shredded lettuce for topping
  • ½ cup diced Roma tomatoes for topping
  • 3 slices deluxe American cheese (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Bake frozen tater tots on a prepared baking sheet for about 10 minutes until they start to crisp.
  3. In a large saucepan, cook ground beef and diced onions over medium-high heat until no longer pink; drain excess oil.
  4. Add 1 cup Thousand Island dressing, ketchup, pickle relish, mustard, onion powder, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  5. Stir in 1 cup cheddar cheese and cubed Velveeta until melted; remove from heat.
  6. Spread beef mixture in a greased baking dish; top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  7. Layer tater tots on top and bake uncovered for 50–55 minutes until golden brown.
  8. After baking, add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and chopped American cheese before serving.
