  • 5 tablespoons salted butter
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 ¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup half and half (or light cream)
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 14 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 ½ ounces Parmesan cheese (shredded)
  • ¼ cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a small bowl, combine Panko breadcrumbs, melted butter, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese; mix well and set aside.
  3. Boil salted water in a large pot. Cook elbow macaroni until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.
  4. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in flour, onion powder, and garlic powder; cook for about 2 minutes.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk and cream until smooth; simmer for about one minute.
  6. Remove from heat; add cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Whisk until melted.
  7. Combine pasta with cheese sauce; transfer to a greased casserole dish.
  8. Top with breadcrumb mixture and bake for 20 to 22 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
